What a night!!! The lucky ones found and packed out the intimate venue and rocked to a historic night in London.Jamaica’s master of dub, Hopeton Brown aka Scientist was in session and he didn’t disappoint. The one time student of the great King Tubbys diligently fingered the controls of the Beringer mixer like a master artist at work and recreated some of Reggae’s greatest moment. The sounds of Johnny Clarke, Horace Andy were reinvented and given the 2017 mix, sounding even better than ever. With a huge back catalogue of tracks to choose from The Scientist ably assisted by Clive kicked off with some truly tough tunes!!
The joy of the crowd could be heard as they scream in approval as Scientist pull out vocals to bring forward the horn section with effects plus a bass line that shook the venue to its core.Scientist quickly bussing a sweat as the music temperature rise and his creative juices flow into a wicked mix.It sounds like a new riddim but most of his riddims were created in the 80’s, Scientist uses the Beringer mixer as an instrument, he is literally playing the keys and thinking all the time making sure his audience don’t miss a beat plus directing his DJ’s as to when they need to chat their lyrics.Scientist timing is immaculate and thrills an audience whose ages range from 18 to 50 he effortlessly mixes classic after classic, and drops a mix of the Sleng-teng riddim causing a serious bruck out and a chant of ‘Scientist Scientist Scientist’!!! before you knew it two hours had flown by…..The Scientist had been in the lab and the formulae he created and guess what ????to coin a phrase Scientist had rid the world of the curse of the vampires…dub rules once more!!!!
